The intention behind HLSS consulting supporting women in hospitality, is to inspire, recruit and mentor women in the often male-dominated hospitality industry and to give them the confidence to help them in their professional development in this industry.
Our mission is to create and achieve a more gender balanced position at all levels of hospitality. Through inspiration, storytelling, community, coaching and consulting.

A woman’s place is – as many people directly would answer – is in the kitchen.
But curiously, when you put all statistics next to eachother, it does not seem to look like that. From the professional kitchens to management roles, the numbers are showing different. Women have long encountered difficulties in hospitality, and barriers still exist today, even though women work in all areas and at every level of the industry.

While just over half of all hotel and restaurant workers are women, there are sizeable disparities between different job roles. Front of house, women continue to dominate with three in five workers being female, while women working as chefs is only 17% of all chefs.
Overall, 56% of all hospitality workers are women, but they occupy the most junior roles.
And less then 24% has a role of manager in the industry.
So there is still a long way to go in the industry to make it more equal!
